Kate Silverton puts her foot in it

There were gasps of astonishment on BBC Breakfast yesterday when the Nolan sisters dropped in for a chat with presenters Kate Silverton and Bill Turnbull. Not because it’s a rare and special privilege to be in the presence of such pop royalty, but because 38-year-old presenter Kate revealed that she has a massive pair of feet.
Yes, we were pretty unastonished, too – but the revelation caused several seconds of awkward silence on live TV. After discussing the Nolans’ reunion tour, chatter had naturally turned to shoes, with Bernie Nolan revealing she’s a tiny size three. Loose Women star Coleen owned up to a decidedly average size six, prompting Kate to boom: “I’m a nine, consider yourself lucky!”
“You’re a nine?” Coleen shrieked, less than sympathetically, before sister Linda repeated, “Are you a nine?” You could hear a pin drop on the studio floor, then the sisters eventually murmured, “Wow” in unison.
However, it should be pointed out that La Silverton is a surprisingly tall 5ft 10in, so anything less than a size nine would probably cause her to topple over. What’s more, she has allies in similarly tall stars such as Paris Hilton and Nicole Kidman, who also have size nines - while songbird Macy Gray is a clod-hopping size 10, fact fans!
Well, she is a sole singer, after all.
